CM

Short for Central Midfielder. A central midfielder, often known as a centre midfielder (CM), is a midfielder whose job is to play equally in attack and defence while dominating play in the middle of the pitch.

Central midfielders are responsible for passing the ball to their attacking midfielders (CAM) and forwards, and they may also assist their forwards by running into the opposition's penalty area and making attempts on goal.
