CB

Short for Centre-back. A centre-back (also known as a CB, central defender, or centre-half) is a defender who plays in front of the goal and is responsible for preventing opposing players (especially centre forwards / strikers) from scoring.

Blocking shots, tackling, intercepting passes, contesting headers, and marking attackers to prevent them from receiving the ball are all responsibilities of centre-back players.
